Safety and security in forging Malaysia’s tourism industry will be the highlight at the inaugural MAH National Hospitality Conference today on Dec 5.
The full-day conference – organised by the Selangor chapter of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) – at Holiday Villa Hotel & Conference Centre Subang, Selangor will include five sessions of presentation from various subject matter experts.
Speaker lineup includes Tourism and Culture Ministry director (Selangor) Arshad Mustapa, Transformational Leadership Catalyst speaker Roger Konopasek, Putrajaya Hospital director (Emergency & Trauma) Dr Khairul Nizam Hassan, International Association of Certified Surveillance Professionals regional director (South-East Asia) Andrin Raj and Halal-Hub Selangor director Ustaz Solihin Maryakon.
The topics range from the hospitality industry’s direction in the next three years to pandemic issues as well as terrorism and food terrorism in the industry.
Speaking at a press conference, MAH president Sam Cheah said prevention is better than cure when it comes to addressing safety issues.
“Although the subjects don’t necessarily reflect the current scenario, it’s always good for hoteliers to equip themselves with knowledge on the matter,” he said.
Cheah added that travel trends are evolving and terrorism is one of the areas concerned.
“Security is one of the aspects of customer service and the event will help hoteliers in efforts to keep our guests and properties safer,” he said.
